Shay is an Ironman...

Shay Robbins is now a Half Ironman. I truly cannot tell you how very proud I am of Mr. Shay Robbins! It was an awesome day and even more awesome finish! We are thankful it is done but it was just an amazing event to be a part of! The pictures will tell the story...

1. And they're off...Shay's heat was the largest and it was pretty crazy to watch. Shay hung back in the back to start and then swam his fastest time.
2. Praise the Lord for Grammy and Poppa! Lulu and I could not have made it through this race day without reinforcements. Lulu was up very early and had a long day...but she was a champ to cheer on her daddy!
3. This was T1 (transition 1) from swimming to biking. And he was off...
4. The run was 3 loops around the landing plus some. So we got to see Shay quite a bit as he ran 13.1 miles. He cramped up quite a bit but he smiled through the whole thing and finished! I, of course, cried when he finished and even random strangers ran by. It was just so neat to watch this accomplishment!
5. FINISHED! He was awesome! His muscles as he sat were still twitching...it was weird to see.

6. He is my hero! I grew in admiration this day of my husband!
7. He is an Ironman...he has a medal so it's official!
8. Lulu was hot (it was 93 degrees with 90% humidity) but was still just a priceless little girl who was proud of her daddy!9. This is our neighbor and friend (the one to the left of Shay). Adam and Seth were the cheer squad for all of our friends in the race! They were so awesome and really cheered at points that Shay was thankful they were there! (they dressed like this by choice for fun...comical!)

So training is over and our home has been a resting place for a week. We are all glad it is done as it was a lot of training but yet race day was so much fun I'm sure Shay will do one soon...soon is a relative term that is defined by all of us. So we shall see...
